Girls on the Run / Heart & Soul

Objective: Girls on the Run (GOTR) is an After School Program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Heart & Sole is a sister program for middle school girls. Through interactive activities such as running, playing games, and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls! Each session is led by trained female coaches who guide and mentor girls through fun and uplifting lessons. The program culminates in a fun, non-competitive 5K event (3.1 miles) for all the girls who are part of the Central New York Council.

GOTR Coaches: The program is led by volunteer coaches, Dawn Joyce and Kim Clark Prochazka. The coaches guide and mentor girls through fun and uplifting lessons from March until June when the program culminates in a non-competitive 5K event that will be held in Cooperstown, NY in June each year.

Funding: The Hancock Education Foundation provides funding through local fund raising and grants from other foundations.
