Kate Resti Scholarship

In 2014 friends and family of Catherine Resti established a scholarship to be known as the Kate Resti Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is available for Hancock Central School students through the Hancock Community Education Foundation.

Catherine (Kate, as many of her friends called her) passed away on February 14, 2014 in Honesdale, PA, after bravely battling cancer. She was born on June 21, 1966, in Queens, New York and moved to Equinunk, PA, when she was ten, where she lived with her life-long love and partner, James Dibble, until her death.

Kate graduated from Hancock High School and worked at St. Clair Graphics in Honesdale with her childhood friend, Beth St. Clair, for almost thirty years. She was extraordinarily gifted and talented, especially as a golfer, playing as often as weather permitted and competing regularly in tournaments. She took particular delight in competing in and sometimes winning men’s tournaments. Kate loved to travel and could often be seen in the summer floating down the Delaware in a tube with her friends and relatives or lying in the sun at Lake Como at her brother, Patrick’s house. If anything could be said about her, it is that she lived her life in the way that she wanted.
